Description

:icongoshinbokuu: What are clothes and weapons and everything I have done- :icongtthplz: Hope this is alright.

Name: Nao
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Class & Species: Human || Yokai Hunter
Height: 5'4
Weight: 120 lbs.

Abilities & Skills: N/A
Weapons & Powers
Seen here -> Nao weapons Ref by TheCaramelApple

Main Weapon: Throwing stars
Often practiced with them when she was younger, and they serve as great aid to long distance fighting and sneak attacks. In serious fights she will dip them in poisons for greater damage.
Sub Weapon: Twin Dagger Fan. The handles and hilt are rather ornate so they can blend in with the fan, but the cases might give them away if a person pays close attention. They are better suited for close-range combat since having to retrieving them would put her at risk. If given an option she would rather not use them.

Misc weapons/Items
Father's Kiseru (Smoking Pipe)
The ends are metal pieces and instead of bamboo the core was whittled from demon bone. Although Nao doesn't smoke she often burns incense in it. It's a pretty rigid pipe and can be used as a last resort weapon.
Ofuda
Household charm/talisman that she leaves in residences visited during her travels to bless homes and ward off lower level yokai as a thank you for letting her stay. She usually has several on hand from shrines.
Incense
Nao mixes them to create different fumes, from pleasant ones for the home to ones that can put a demon to sleep. These are never lethal.

Strengths
Long Distance fighting: Lacking a new sword has made her rusty with close combat, so she's honed what skill she can with the rest of her weapons.
Agility: Quick, lithe, graceful, not one to waste time or movements

Weaknesses
Strength: Despite her swordsmanship and any other technical skill, Nao's body can't withstand much when forced into one on one combat.
Defense: With a lack of armor she avoids fighting in wide open areas, though there is risk in fighting in closed spaces as well since her senses aren't as heightened as other creatures.

Personality

(+) Patient || Thoughtful || Forgiving|| Devoted ||Disciplined
(+/-) Adventurous || Protective
(-) Independent || Wary || Cynical || Childish

(+) Coming from a family of demon slayers has given Nao most of her better qualities. She was learning medicinal properties before she could fight, and always worked by some kind of schedule which has given her the benefits of discipline, patience and devotion. Any task given to her will be always completed to the best of her abilities so long as it's a reasonable one. She seems to daydream terribly often, but 90% of the time she's just thinking about the pros and cons of traveling, tactics, or some other thing.

Nao tends to be equally forgiving to both people and demons unless they have committed gruesome crimes. She strongly believes that although yokai are usually said to have a generally malicious nature that people can be just as cruel. This is also a part of why she so strongly follows the Sakimitama (幸魂, Love) fellowship. Even so, there are still those she simply cannot forgive.

(-) Nao prefers to handle her own problems-if only she always could. The girl isn't entirely strong enough for that,consequently resulting in her acknowledgement and appreciation the value in teamwork. She can repeatedly deny help until she absolutely needs it and that can easily wear out the patience of those trying to assist her. Initially, Nao comes off distant (in the day dreamy, aloof kind of way) and wary, preferring to think about a being and make final judgements quietly even if she's showing a smile-or frown-on the outside.

Nao enjoys the good times, but also takes pride in being a realist. There are good and bad beings, as well as good and bad times. Neither last forever, and she often stresses the more cynical nature of life and living things because that tends to be more problematic than the good side of things. She can be thoughtful, but also finds fault in being very 'yes or no' about situations that may not always be so simple.

(+/-) There's a time and place for everything. As a child she was hard to be contained, and even though she has matured quite a bit, the girl can't help but be childish every now and then. Naturally this is a side she tends to reveal to those close to her.

History:

Since she was a little girl, Nao always looked up to her father; she wanted to be the greatest demon huntress in the whole village! As a child, at only 5 years old, she would often go play outside the safety of the village walls with the older boys. Nao wasn't ever really able to participate in the older boys activities, but they would always happily let her watch!

After all- Her father was always pushing her to watch them, learn from them, and try to guide her hands into techniques that the boy's had learned growing up. She was the daughter of the highest ranked hunter in the village; but not the clan leader. The man was called "Kuro Taka" or Black Hawk. He was said to have very good eyesight, knowing where the weaknesses and soft spots for every kind of demon were... he was even said to have taken the eye of Saburo Roku. The "Ghost White Demon" the mighty dog beast that ruled the high north lands. He demanded offerings; young children, incapable of fighting for themselves, children that were needed by the village in order to keep it afloat and functional.

Nao's father did not want that for his daughter- and he was lucky she was born when she was, because the White Demon hadn't shown his face for some time. As the days went by, Nao grew into a fine young huntress. At age 9, her father gifted her with the Eye of the Great Dog demon, and her first weapon; a blade made of a chipped fang from the Ghost Dog. It was also his first weapon when he was growing up. He cared for the blade, and treated it with the respect he gave his rival Saburo. The hunter was brought to tears, watching his daughter succeed in all the Hunter initiation tasks...

But the next day;

All her father's dreams were crushed as he fought alongside his newly crowned daughter- fighting to protect her, fighting with her.  He would not leave his daughter's side. The ghost had brought a boy with him...a spitting image. The Demon lord of the High north had borne a son. Assisting in the destruction of his home, his family, his life...was the blood and flesh of his rival. By the time Nao's father realized that the smaller dog demon was his son-it was too late. Her father's eye sight started to fade as he hung helplessly in the mouth of his rival. His voice- would barely speak, but he managed to call out.

"Nao."  He cried, "Nao- Live. Live and be strong. Fight. Fight and live."

In tears, Nao dropped the fang blade and stared at the intimidating beast Saburo, drooling the blood of her father, the mighty Black Hawk had his wings clipped.

It was then his sights turned on the girl. Bearing his fangs, Saburo raised his lips, glistening black fangs painted crimson with her father's blood. He lunged- only to be blocked and wrestled down by the smaller black maned pup. He took the blow the girl was to receive- The large white dog fell near her and yelled for her to run... And she did. Nao ran. She ran and ran-so far that only the smoke and orange glow of her village could be seen by her eye. Then she fell to her knees and cried.

Nao started a new life with her grandmother in a neighboring village, and the two moved away from the tragedy, scared of more destruction and demons trampling their home.

Almost a decade since that incident, Nao has since left her grandmother and taken on a nomadic style of living. With her sword and many of her familiar yokai hunting equipment tarnished or burned she has stuck to taking on small tasks and exterminations. This is fine with her as the only real threat she would truly like to face again is the "Ghost" from her past, Saburo and his son.

She respects Saburo, yes, but intends to turn his teeth into her weaponry collection, and his fur into a coat. As for the latter she can barely remember him, but intends to thank him if ever given the chance.

Even before the destruction to her village, Nao believed that the newly scattered jewel shards should be left alone. Both people and demons are born with innate benefits to being who they are. Not everyone can, or should be given power, and not everyone can, or should be helped with the jewel's power either, so she believes that it's fair enough to let the jewel be, and that people and demons a like should be content with utilizing what they have.
